My period arrived, hurrah!

This post will probably be TMI – you’ve been warned.

I’m guessing only those who are waiting for a cycle to start (and those who are hoping to NOT be pregnant) get this excited when their period starts. It’s officially day one today! I had light brown spotting yesterday and woke to a full bleed today. I’m always relived when it’s bright red blood instead of the brown stuff I was getting last summer/fall. It makes me feel like my lady parts are in better shape than they were.

Since it’s day one I had some phone calls to make. I called my nurse to let her know and I asked her to call in my prescription. My insurance changed a bit this year and I can no longer get my injectibles from Apthorp Pharmacy like I have before. I have to do mail order now which is a pain but oh well, at least it’s still covered. I also called my RE’s patient coordinator so she can put me on the calendar for the co-culture biopsy.

That’s all I can do for now. My protocol is to do estrogen priming with ganirelix to really shut me down and hopefully allow the stims to create a larger response since I’m not a big producer usually.  So now we wait again… In about 10-12 days I will start going in for blood tests to monitor for ovulation. Those OV pee stick tests never did work for me. Once I ovulate I’ll start slapping on the estrogen patches and stabbing myself with the ganirelix needle. Somewhere in there I will do the co-culture biopsy. And then it’s time for the main attraction. That’s when I’ll start the stim shots and things will get intense. Also this all just happens to be timing out right when I will be moving and wrapping things up at work… not stressful or anything!  For now i’m just trying to relax and think positive doing what I can to prepare. I’m really hoping for a good response (and end result of course) from this cycle since it will be my last for the foreseeable future. I’m really not prepared to think about it not working and not having the option to try again.
